Franz Mayrhofer (politician)

Franz Mayrhofer (born September 9, 1886 in Aschbach ; † June 11, 1962 there ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP / ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1925 to 1927 he was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament and from 1927 to 1934 and from 1945 to 1956 a member of the National Council .

Life

After elementary school Mayrhofer attended the Stiftsgymnasium Seitenstetten where he graduated from high school in 1905 and studied English and French at the University of Vienna . He served as a reserve officer between 1914 and 1919 and was taken prisoner in Italy. He then took over his parents' business and worked as a farmer in Fohra-Aschbach.

politics

Politically, he was active as a local councilor and represented the Christian Social Party between February 4, 1925 and May 20, 1927 in the Lower Austrian state parliament. He was then from May 18, 1927 to October 1, 1930 and from December 2, 1930 to May 2, 1934 a member of the National Council. He was then a member of the Council of State from 1934 to 1938 and, after the Second World War, represented the Austrian People's Party again in the National Council from December 19, 1945 to June 8, 1956. In addition, Mayrhofer was again a councilor from 1946, then from 1950 to 1955 executive councilor and from 1955 to 1960 councilor in Aschbach-Markt. He also acted as senior curator of the Landes-Hypothekenanstalt from 1945 to 1962. He was also General Councilor of the Austrian National Bank from 1945 to 1948.
