Franz Mellich

Franz Mellich (born December 7, 1891 in Horní Ruzodol (Ober-Rosenthal, Bohemia ), † February 11, 1954 in Bludenz ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Mellich was a member of the Austrian Federal Council from 1945 to 1945 .

Franz Mellich was born on December 7, 1891 in Ober-Rosenthal, today's Horní Ruzodol, in Bohemia. He attended elementary school and then the state trade school in the north Bohemian city of Liberec (Reichenberg). There he learned the profession of technician and from 1919–1921 also attended the works council teachers' school. Before that, he did military service from 1912 to 1919. He then found a job at the Steyr works in Steyr , where he was also a member of the employee works council from 1921 to 1924. In 1931 Mellich moved to Feldkirch in Vorarlberg , where he worked until 1935 as an employee of the municipal insurance company of the City of Vienna. For political reasons, Mellich was dismissed from this position in 1935. Subsequently he worked as a textile merchant in Feldkirch.

Mellich was politically active for the first time as district leader of the paramilitary organization Republican Protection Association . He later became involved as an agricultural councilor and councilor. From December 19, 1945 to October 25, 1949, Franz Mellich was a member of the Federal Council in Vienna, delegated by the Vorarlberg state parliament .
