Franz Ortner (theologian)

Franz Ortner (born August 16, 1943 in Tristach ) is an Austrian Catholic church historian .

Life

He studied philosophy and theology at the Klagenfurt seminary , theology in 1965 at the University of Salzburg and, since 1966, studies of irregular theology, history, ancient history and antiquity . After graduating as Dr. theol. 1970 and Dr. phil. In 1976 he had been an assistant at the theological faculty in Salzburg since 1970. After graduation as Mag. Phil. In 1973 he was chairman of the study commission of the theological faculty in Salzburg (1978–1987) for specialist theology, independent religious education and combined religious education. Membership in almost all faculty commissions was associated with this office. After his habilitation in 1981 in the subject of church history (modern church history) with the subject of Reformation, Catholic Reform and Counter-Reformation in the Archbishopric of Salzburg (printed in 1981, Anton Pustet University Press, funded by the Fund for the Promotion of Scientific Research and the Dr. Hans Lechner Foundation) he worked at Salzburg state exhibitions in 1981 and 1987. As a representative of the theological faculty he was a member of the Salzburg Provincial Cultural Advisory Board from 1988-1993.
