Geographical location

The former village was in a loop of the Rednitz . The fields belonging to the place were in the east ("Büchelbacher Wegäcker", "Auf der Marter" and "Hauptmanns Brunnenstube"). Today the original Kauernhofen has risen up in Bahnhofstrasse and Zweigstrasse.

history

At the site of Kauernhofen, broken fragments point to a late Celtic settlement from the Latène period .

The place was first mentioned in 1152 as "Kurenkoven". The document says that Heilsbronn Monastery has its gradients , which it u. a. Kauernhofen had exchanged for a Meierhof in Ketteldorf , to which Rapoto von Abenberg had until then been entitled. Kauernhofen was conveniently located on Rednitzterrassenstrasse, which was laid out in the pre-Carolingian period.

In the land register for the Burggräfliche Amt Roth, which was set up around 1360, only two Reutäcker were given as possessions for Kauernhofen. In the land register of the now margravial office of Roth, which was set up in 1434, a farmer had to pay interest for a Reutacker in Roth. In 1531 there were 15 properties in the village with different landlords : the shepherd's house was subordinate to the caste office in Roth , 5 Sölden to the church in Roth, 2 courtyards and 2 Sölden to the Seligenporten monastery , 4 courtyards and 2 Sölden other landlords.

In Salbuch of eichstättischen Pflegamtes Abenberg the year 1640 a Seldengütlein is listed for Kauer Hofen. In 1671 there were 9 properties in Kauernhofen with different landlords: 1 property was subordinate to the Abenberg caste office , 4 properties of the imperial city of Nuremberg , 3 properties to the Seligenporten monastery and 1 property (the church in?) Rohr .

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 14 properties in Kauernhofen. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Roth , the village and community rulership was held by the caste office Roth . The landlords were the Principality of Ansbach (Kastenamt Roth: 1 Leerhaus ; Kastenamt Roth taxable, the Rother Church interest, valid and hand wages: 4 Gütlein, 1 Leerhaus), the Palatinate-Bavarian monastery office Seligenporten (2 Ganzhöfe, 1 Köblergut ), the Eichstättische Box office Abenberg (1 whole yard), the Altschell'sche Rentenverwaltung Mäbenberg (1 half yard) and the hospital office Heilig Geist of the imperial city Nuremberg (2 whole yards, 1 Gütlein). In addition to the property, there was the tithe house, which was a manorial building, and the shepherd's house, which was a communal building. In 1801 there were 15 properties in the village, 2 of which were under the Abenberg caste office.

As part of the community edict, Kauernhofen was assigned to the Rothaurach tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Rothaurach, founded in 1811 . The Mäbenberg Patrimonial Court had voluntary jurisdiction over a property until 1848 . After 1900, but before 1904, Kauernhofen was reassigned to Roth. The entire settlement on the other side of the Rednitz has developed from Kauernhofen.
