Birkach is a district of the city of Roth in the Middle Franconian district of Roth in Bavaria .

The village is located in the northeast of the Franconian Lake District , directly on the northwest bank of the Rothsee . It is about seven kilometers from Roth. The comparatively little wooded area north of the Rothsee with the former districts of Birkach is also called "Seebühl".

The place was first mentioned in 1186 when Pope Urban III. confirmed that Birkach belonged to the cathedral chapter of Eichstätt . A chapel was mentioned in 1717, but it was later destroyed. In 1820 it was a village with eleven residential buildings and 55 inhabitants.

The municipality of Birkach, which was independent until the regional reform in Bavaria , was incorporated into Roth on January 1, 1975 together with its districts Eichelburg , Hasenbruck , Heubühl and Zwiefelhof . The districts Fischhof , Kronmühle and Polsdorf came to Allersberg .

A local road coming from Heubühl leads through the village and crosses the Rothsee in its further course in the direction of Göggelsbuch .
