history

In 1162 the place was first mentioned in a document as “Phaphenhoven”. In 1185, Bishop Otto von Eichstätt consecrated the Church of St. Ottilia (Pfaffenhofen) , which was originally the mother church for Roth and Abenberg. With the completion of the Church of Our Lady in Roth in 1510, Roth was considered the mother church.

In Urbar for the castle Count's office Roth, which was erected about 1360, three Reutäcker were recorded for "Pfaffenhouen". In the land register of the now margravial office of Roth, which was established in 1434, 1 mill and 1 Reutwiese were listed.

In the war between Albrecht Achilles , the Margrave of Ansbach , and Duke Ludwig IX. , Duke of Bavaria-Landshut , the village of Pfaffenhofen went up in flames on June 3, 1460. In 1486, the majority of the landlords of Pfaffenhofen were from Nuremberg. Only three properties had other landlords. In 1555 there was only one farm that was not Nuremberg. The 16-point report of 1608 lists 17 households for Pfaffenhofen, of which 1 mill, 1 blacksmith and 1 estate belonged to the Roth caste office, the other 9 farms and 4 estates were subordinate to other landlords (Pfaffenhofen church, new hospital Nuremberg, state alms office, monastery St. Klara, Nuremberg city judge).

During the Thirty Years' War , imperial troops almost completely destroyed Pfaffenhofen on November 9, 1631. Only in 1653 were the goods rebuilt and the fields cultivated. The church remained in ruins for 100 years. Not until 1734 was a new church built in the so-called margrave style. In 1697 there were 16 properties: 10 properties were subordinate to the imperial city of Nuremberg , 3 to the Principality of Ansbach, 2 to the church in Pfaffenhofen and 1 to the monastery office of Seligenporten . According to the Oberamtsbeschreibung from Johann Georg Vetter in 1732 , there were 19 properties in Pfaffenhofen, of which 8 were margraves and 11 were lords from Nuremberg.

At the end of the 18th century there were 24 properties in Pfaffenhofen. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Roth . The village and community rulership was held by the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste office in Roth . The landlords were the Kastenamt Roth (1 Halbhof, 1 Köblergut , 1 Gütlein, 7 Leerhäuser ), the Palatinate-Bavarian Monastery Office Seligenporten (1 Ganzhof), the Imperial City of Nuremberg ( St. Klara Monastery Office : 1 Ganzhof, 1 Köblergut; Landesalmosenamt: 3 Ganzhöfe) , 2 half courtyards, 1 Gütlein; Siechenkobelstiftung St. Johannis: 1 Dreiviertelhof, 1 Gütlein; Spitalamt Heilig Geist : 1 Ganzhof). In addition to the property, there was also the branch church of St. Ottilia and communal buildings (shepherd's house, school). In 1802 there were 26 properties in the village, 14 of which were subject to the Roth Oberamt.

In 1806 the place came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , the Pfaffenhofen tax district was formed in 1808 , to which Meckenlohe , Pruppach and Untere Glasschleife belonged. In 1811 the rural community Pfaffenhofen was formed, which was congruent with the tax district. In administration and jurisdiction, it was subordinate to the Pleinfeld Regional Court ( renamed the Roth Regional Court in 1858 ) and the financial management of the Spalt Rent Office ( renamed the Spalt Tax Office in 1920 ). From 1862 Pfaffenhofen was administered by the Schwabach district office (renamed the Schwabach district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained until 1879 the District Court Roth, 1880 at the District Court Roth . In 1932 the Spalt tax office was dissolved. Since then, Pfaffenhofen has been subordinate to the Schwabach tax office . The municipality had an area of 14.232 km².

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria (July 1, 1971), Pfaffenhofen and its districts were incorporated into Roth.
