history

A fief deed of the Bamberg Cathedral Chapter dated to around 1190 , which describes the Roth office, shows that Hofstetten was also located in the area of this office. It was not until 1431 that the individual locations of the former property were listed by name. The place was first mentioned in a document in 1297 as "Hofstetten". In the land register for the Burggräfliche Amt Roth, which was set up around 1360, 5 Huben , 7 Gereute, 1 Reutacker and 1 Reutwiese were listed for "Hofsteten" . In the land register of the now margravial office of Roth, which was established in 1434, a mill is also listed. In the 16-point report of 1608, 13 properties are listed for the place.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 14 properties in Hofstetten (2 whole courtyards, 2 half courtyards, 4 Köbler estates, 1 estate with a grinding mill, 4 estates, 1 empty house ) and a community shepherd's house . The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Roth . The Roth caste office held the village and community rulership as well as the land rulership over all properties . In 1799 there were 12 properties in the village.

As part of the municipal edict, Hofstetten was assigned to the Eckersmühlen tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Eckersmühlen , which was founded in 1811 .

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the place was incorporated into Roth together with Eckersmühlen on May 1, 1978.
