history

District Office

The district office of Schwabach was formed in 1862 through the merger of the regional courts of the older order Roth and Schwabach.

On the occasion of the reform of the layout of the Bavarian district offices, the Schwabach district office received municipalities from the disbanded Heilsbronn district office on January 1, 1880 when the municipality of Fünfbronn was ceded to the Gunzenhausen district office .

On June 15, 1922, the Schwabach district office ceded the communities of Eibach , Reichelsdorf and Röthenbach near Schweinau and parts of the community of Deutenbach to the city of Nuremberg. The rest of the dissolved municipality of Deutenbach came to the municipality of Stein near Nuremberg and thus to the Nuremberg District Office .

district

On January 1, 1939, the designation district was introduced as everywhere else in the German Reich . This is how the district office became the district of Schwabach.

On April 1, 1940, the independent city of Schwabach was incorporated into the district. This was reversed on April 1, 1948.

On July 1, 1972, most of the district was combined with the largest part of the Hilpoltstein district, which was also dissolved, to form the new Roth district near Nuremberg in the course of the regional reform in Bavaria . On May 1, 1973, the new district was given its current name Landkreis Roth . The communities Penzendorf and Wolkersdorf (except Holzheim ; this came to the city of Nuremberg) were incorporated into the city of Schwabach. The communities of Katzwang and Worzeldorf as well as the Kornburg market were incorporated into the city of Nuremberg. The municipalities of Hergersbach , Untereschenbach and Winkelhaid were reclassified into the city of Windsbach and thus into the district of Ansbach.

The city of Schwabach itself was only part of a district from April 1, 1940 to March 31, 1948, otherwise it was always independent and was enlarged by incorporations in 1972 , but lost the seat of the district office to the city of Roth .

License Plate

On July 1, 1956, the district was assigned the distinctive sign SC when the vehicle registration number that is still valid today was introduced . It is only issued in the city of Schwabach until today. In the district of Roth it was issued until August 3, 1974. To distinguish between residents of the city of Schwabach and the district of Schwabach, only license plates with a distinctive letter, e.g. SC-X-999, were issued to the town residents , while the district residents were always assigned two distinctive letters, e.g. SC-XY 77 .
