history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1295, on June 22, 1442 for the first time in its present form to distinguish Georgensgmünd and Friedrichsgmünd . In the 13th century Petersgmünd was subordinate to the Lords of Hausen , who at that time also owned most of the surrounding villages. The rural village was on the Via Imperii , an important trading route in the Middle Ages. In 1590, after the Lords of Hausen died out, the entire Petersgmünd fiefdom fell back to the Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach . According to a description at the time, there were "1 Gotzhaus [= church], 1 shepherd's house, 7 farms, 14 estates [= half farms] and a mill" in the place.

Until 1532, when the Reformation was introduced in Petersgmünd, there was a separate chaplain with an associated early knife house, who held the services in St. Peterskirche . After that, the parish in Georgensgmünd provided for the parish, which led to ongoing disputes, which only came to an end in 1710 with a contract with the Ansbach margrave Wilhelm Friedrich , which stipulated that every third service could be held in Petersgmünd, all others in Georgensgmünd.

During the Thirty Years' War Petersgmünd was plundered and devastated several times, so that the place was completely destroyed and deserted in 1640.

At the end of the 18th century there were 30 properties in Petersgmünd. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Roth , the village and community rulership was held by the judge's office in Georgensgmünd . The landlords were the Principality of Ansbach (21 properties; Georgensgmünd judge's office: 1 whole courtyard, 1 whole courtyard with grinding mill and forge, 7 Köblergüter , 1 estate with tavern , 6 Gütlein, 1 Leerhaus ; Roth Church: 1 Köblergut, 1 Gütlein; Church Petersgmünd: 1 half courtyard , 1 Köblergut), the imperial city of Nuremberg ( St. Klara Monastery Office : 2 Ganzhöfe, 1 Köblergut; Landesalmosenamt: 1 Ganzhof, 1 Dreiviertelhof, 1 Gütlein) and Nuremberg owner ( from the landlord : 1 Ganzhof; from Holzschuher : 1 Köblergut; from Beneficial : 1 Dreiviertelhof). In addition to the property, there was also the church of St. Peter, the forester's house, which was a stately building, and the shepherd's house as a communal building.

In the geographical statistical-topographical lexicon of Franconia (1801) the place is described as follows:

“Petersgmünd, on the Rednitz, an hour and a half behind Roth towards Weissenburg, Filialkirchdorf of the Ansbach Oberamt Roth with 20 subjects belonging to the same; 20 are alien.
Not far from this place is the Quinati and Meyer paper mill. The papers that both produce are of excellent quality. The factory mark is a spruce. In the Quinati factory, different types of Dutch paper are copied very well. "

In 1806 Petersgmünd came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , it was assigned to the newly formed Georgensgmünd tax district in 1808 . In 1811 the rural community Petersgmünd was formed. In administration and jurisdiction, it was subordinate to the Pleinfeld Regional Court ( renamed the Roth Regional Court in 1858 ) and the financial management of the Spalt Rent Office ( renamed the Spalt Tax Office in 1920 ). From 1862 Petersgmünd was administered by the Schwabach district office ( renamed Schwabach district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained until 1879 the District Court Roth, 1880 at the District Court Roth . In 1932 the Spalt tax office was dissolved. Since then Petersgmünd has been subordinate to the Schwabach tax office in the financial administration . The municipality had an area of 4.713 km².

With the connection through the Ludwig-Süd-Nord-Bahn in 1849, handicraft businesses and shops were able to establish themselves in the village in addition to the agricultural businesses.

On June 1, 1972, Petersgmünd was incorporated into Georgensgmünd.
