history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1345 as "Wernspach". The place name is derived from the water body of the same name. The defining word of the name of the water body is the personal name Werner .

In the land register for the Burggräfliche Amt Roth, which was set up around 1360, the following property is given for Wernsbach: 1 Hube , 3 fiefs and 4 farms. In the land register of the now margravial office of Roth, which was established in 1434, 6 estates, 1 half estate, 1 estate, 1 farm, 2 Selden, 1 Mühlstatt, 5 Reutäcker and 7 Reutwiesen are given for Wernsbach. In 1732 there were 11 properties in Wernsbach (6 courtyards, 2 half-courtyards, 1 Köblergut , 1 Gütlein and 1 shepherd's house) according to the descriptions of the Oberamts by Johann Georg Vetter . All properties were subordinate to the Oberamt Roth.

In Wernsbach agriculture was primarily practiced and sandstone was extracted in the nearby Wernsbach quarries . In the 1930s the quarry was closed.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 10 properties in Wernsbach (5 whole courtyards, 1 whole courtyard with an inn, 2 half courtyards, 1 Köblergut , 1 Gütlein) and a community pastor's house. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Roth , the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over all properties was held by the caste office Roth . In 1804 there were still 10 properties in the village.

As part of the community edict, Wernsbach was assigned to the Wallesau tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community Wallesau founded in 1811 . On January 1, 1972, Wernsbach was incorporated into Georgensgmünd as part of the municipal reform.
