Location of Obermauk in Bavaria

Obermauk is a district of Georgensgmünd in the Central Franconian district of Roth .

Geographical location

Immediately north of the village flows the Maukbach, a right tributary of the Swabian Rezat . Beyond the river lies Mauk , which forms a closed settlement with Obermauk. Both places are surrounded by forest all around, together with the adjoining meadows (northwest: Rosenau, west: Weiheräcker, southeast: Oberreut). A community road leads via Mauk to Bundesstraße 2 (0.5 km northwest) or to Altenheideck (2.8 km south). Another communal road leads to Röttenbach (2.7 km southwest).

history

Originally, Mauk and Obermauk were considered a place that belonged to the Pappenheim property. Around 1250 this came to the Burgraviate of Nuremberg . In 1293, Burgrave Konrad gave the Bailiwick of Röttenbach, which also included Obermauk, to the Teutonic Order Commander Ellingen . This is also the first documentary mention of Obermauk. In 1350 the place consisted of four courtyards.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 14 properties in Obermauk (1 whole courtyard with tavern , 2 three-quarter courtyards , 3 half courtyards , 2 Köbler estates , 1 Gütlein) and a community shepherd's house. The high court exercised the coming Ellingen of the Teutonic Order , the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over all properties held the Trisoleiamt Ellingen .

As part of the community edict, Obermauk was assigned to the Wallesau tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community Wallesau founded in 1811 . On January 1, 1972, Obermauk was incorporated into Georgensgmünd as part of the municipal reform.
