history

The iron smelter and the iron hammer were built in the first half of the 16th century by Endress von Hausen, bailiff in Roth. The required raw materials (ore, charcoal and lime) could be obtained from the surrounding area. The property was destroyed during the Thirty Years War . It was rebuilt in 1662, and from 1709 to 1723 it was personally taken over by Margrave Wilhelm Friedrich in Ansbach . Iron production ended in 1733. For the next 200 years it was operated as a scythe forge, finally in 1933 as a bronze factory.

Towards the end of the 18th century, the hammer forge belonged to Friedrichsgmünd . There was an estate. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Roth . She had the Brandenburg-Ansbach administrator's office in Friedrichsgmünd as landlord . Under the Prussian administration (1792-1806) of the Principality of Ansbach, the hammer forge was given house number 28 in the town of Friedrichsgmünd.

As part of the community edict, Hammerschmiede was assigned to the Georgensgmünd tax district formed in 1808 . She also belonged to the rural community Georgensgmünd founded in 1811 .

The hammer forge has now ceased operations and the original building has been demolished.
