history
In the 13th century the place probably consisted of 8 whole courtyards. In 1312 the place was first mentioned as "Rutersbach", in 1394 and 1434 "Rueterszpach", 1520 and 1530 as "Rutterspach". The current form was first attested in 1608. The place was named after its founder called "Ruoderich", "Ruidher" or "Rudher". Rittersbach was in the area of the Lords of Abenberg , which was inherited from the Burgraves of Nuremberg around 1200 . These gave their share in Rittersbach to the lords of Hausen as a fief. After their extinction, their property came to the Margraves of Ansbach . In addition to the margraves, the Bamberg cathedral chapter was well off, who sold their property, which later fell to the Roth church. In addition, Nuremberg owners (Schüßler, Imhoff , Ebner , Eyermann), the Nuremberg Poor Clare Monastery , the Schwabacher Spital and the manor Mäbenberg were wealthy in the village.
Due to the convenient location on the Via Imperii and a trade route that leads from Regensburg to Würzburg , there was a relatively high level of prosperity. After the road from Schwabach to Pleinfeld via Roth and Wernsbach (the forerunner of today's Bundesstraße 2) was built in 1816 , this location advantage was lost and the inhabitants concentrated on agriculture . Hop growing in particular became the most important source of income in the 19th century.
At the end of the 18th century there were 31 properties in Rittersbach. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Roth . The village and township government had the box office Roth held. The landlords were the Principality of Ansbach (20 properties; Kastenamt Roth: 1 Ganzhof, 1 Köblergut ; Church Roth: 2 Gütlein; Church Wallesau: 1 estate with Tafernwirtschaft ; Kastenamt Schwabach : 1 Ganzhof, 3 half-yards, 1 estate with Tafernwirtschaft, 1 estate with forge , 1 estate, 7 empty houses , 1 bath house), the Abenberg caste office in Eichstätt (1 estate ), the Altschell pension administration in Mäbenberg (1 estate with grinding mill, 1 estate); the imperial city of Nuremberg ( St. Klara monastery office : 2 whole courtyards, 2 Köblergüter; Landesalmosenamt: 1 whole courtyard, 1 estate with tavern, 1 Gütlein) and the Nuremberg owner von Imhoff (1 Ganzhof). In addition to the property, there were also church buildings (parish church, parish widdum) and communal buildings (school, shepherd's house). In 1801 there were 27 properties in the village.
In 1806 Rittersbach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, the Rittersbach tax district was formed in 1808 , to which Hämmerleinsmühle , Mäbenberg , Unterheckenhofen and Weinmannshof belonged. In 1811 the rural community Rittersbach was formed, to which Unterheckenhofen and Weinmannshof belonged. In administration and jurisdiction, it was subordinate to the Pleinfeld Regional Court ( renamed the Roth Regional Court in 1858 ) and the financial management of the Spalt Rent Office ( renamed the Spalt Tax Office in 1920 ). However, until 1814 the Patrimonial Court Mäbenberg held voluntary jurisdiction over 2 properties . From 1862 Rittersbach was administered by the Schwabach District Office (renamed the Schwabach District in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained until 1879 the District Court Roth, 1880 at the District Court Roth . In 1932 the Spalt tax office was dissolved. Since then, Rittersbach has been subordinate to the Schwabach tax office in the financial administration . The municipality had an area of 8.337 km².
On May 1, 1978, the municipality of Rittersbach was dissolved in the course of regional reform in Bavaria : Rittersbach and Weinmannshof were incorporated into Georgensgmünd, Unterheckenhofen into Roth .
In 2012 the place celebrated its 700th anniversary with numerous events.
