history

The place was probably founded by Bavarian settlers in the 8th or 9th century . It was conveniently located on Rednitzterrassenstrasse, which had already been laid out in pre-Carolingian times. A document from 1289 names a place called Hegenhouen . The first clear mention of Oberheckenhofen, separated from the neighboring Unterheckenhofen , dates from 1345 (as Obernhekenhouen ). Around 1370 the tithe had to be paid to the Liebfrauenkirche in Roth . In 1395 the place consisted of four courtyards, in 1531 of five courtyards with different landlords : one courtyard was subordinate to the Roth church, two to the St. Klara monastery administrator's office and two to the state alms office of the imperial city of Nuremberg . As a result of the Thirty Years War , the place was completely depopulated. It was not until 1651 that the reconstruction began by Protestant exiles from Upper Austria . In 1735 the farming settlement had six houses, in 1770 nine.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 7 properties and a community shepherd's house in Oberheckenhofen. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Roth , the village and community rulership was held by the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste office Roth . The landlords were the principality of Ansbach (caste office Roth, church Roth: 1 whole yard, city of Roth : 1 Köblergut ), the imperial city of Nuremberg (state alms office: 2 whole yards; St. Klara monastery administrator's office: 1 whole yard, 2 half yards).

As part of the municipal edict, Oberheckenhofen was assigned to the Georgensgmünd tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the Georgensgmünd rural community founded in 1811 .
