history
In 1340 the place was first mentioned as "Ebersbach". The place name is derived from the same name of the water (today called Hirtenbach), whose defining word is the boar . So it was called a brook where wild boars regularly went to water. The monastery Ebrach at that time had possessions in the town. Other landlords were the Nuremberg patricians Küdorfer and the Schwabach hospital .
In 1529, the main Hergersbach team in the imperial city of Nuremberg in Ebersbach had 5 teams.
Towards the end of the 18th century there were 12 properties and a community pastor's house in Ebersbach. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste and city bailiff's office in Windsbach , the place did not have a municipality ruler . Landlords were the Principality of Ansbach ( Kastenamt Windsbach : 1 forge; Kastenamt Schwabach : 1 Ganzhof), Nuremberg owners ( Kreß von Kressenstein : 1 Ganzhof; von Fürer : 4 Ganzhöfe, 1 Halbhof, 1 Viertelhof), the Schultheißenamt Neumarkt (1 Ganzhof, 1 Gütlein) and the Teutonic Order of Nuremberg (1 Gastwirtschaftsgütlein). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the Justice and Chamber Office Windsbach . At that time there were 13 subject families, 4 of which were Ansbachian.
In 1806 Ebersbach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the community edict, Ebersbach was assigned to the Barthelmesaurach tax district formed in 1808 . It belonged to the rural community of Barthelmesaurach, founded in 1810 . With the second community edict (1818) Ebersbach broke up with Kapsdorf von Barthelmesaurach and formed a rural community. It was subject to the Heilsbronn Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and the Windsbach Rent Office in the financial administration . From 1862 to 1879 Ebersbach was administered by the Heilsbronn district office, since 1880 by the Schwabach district office (renamed the Schwabach district in 1938 ) and the Schwabach rent office ( renamed the Schwabach tax office in 1920 ). Jurisdiction remained with the Heilsbronn District Court until 1879 and with the Schwabach District Court from 1880 . The municipality had an area of 7.231 km². On January 1, 1972, Ebersbach was incorporated into the city of Abenberg as part of the regional reform .
