history

The place was originally under the Burgraviate of Nuremberg . In 1296, the Eichstatt Bishop Reinboto von Meilenhart bought Abenberg and its affiliations, including Bechhofen, from the burgraviate for 4,000 pounds sterling. The place is first mentioned in a document around 1300 as "Pechhouen" in the Salbuch of the Hochstift Eichstätt . At that time there were 8 properties: 1 Meierhof , 1 Hube and 5 fiefs belonged to the Abenberg nursing office , 1 Gütlein belonged to the Schwabach Hospital . Bechhofen was the beginning and end of the so-called Fraischstein border between the Abenberg maintenance office and the territory of the Margrave of Ansbach (originally 89 border stones).

In 1671 there were 11 properties, 10 of which were subordinate to the Abenberg nursing office and 1 to the Schwabach hospital. The High Court was exercised by the Abenberg Care Office in Eichstatt. Towards the end of the 18th century there were still 11 properties and a community shepherd's house in Bechhofen. The Abenberg Nursing Office exercised the high court and the village and community rulership. The landlords were the Abenberg Kastenamt (2 whole courtyards, 1 three-quarter courtyard, 2 half courtyards, 3 Köblergüter , 2 Gütlein) and the Brandenburg-Ansbach hospital in Schwabach (1 Köblergut). In 1799 there were also 11 households.

As part of the municipal edict, Bechhofen was assigned to the Asbach tax district in 1808 . It belonged to the rural community Aurau founded in 1811 . On July 1, 1972, Bechhofen was incorporated into Abenberg as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
