Geographical location

The street village lies on a nameless stream, which is a right tributary of the Listenbach . In the west are the forest areas "Breitenlohe" and "Eulenlohe", behind them the "Abenberger Wald". The terrain rises for about 2 km to the "Klosterberg" ( 445  m above sea level ). In the northeast is the "Moos" corridor area, and in the southeast is the forest area "Im Steinernen Bichel". A community connecting road leads to Mäbenberg (1.1 km south) or to state road 2224 near Aurau (1.2 km northeast).

history

In 1305 it was first mentioned on the occasion of the donation of feudal rights to goods by Gottfried von Heideck to the Heilsbronn monastery in "villa Aspach". The place name is derived from the name of the water body, which denotes a stream overgrown with aspens .

In 1608 there were 4 properties in Asbach, 2 of which were subordinate to the Georgensgmünd judicial office , 1 to the Abenberg caste office in Eichstätt and 1 to the imperial city of Nuremberg . In 1671 there were 5 properties, 3 of which were subordinate to the Principality of Ansbach , 1 to the Imperial City of Nuremberg and 1 to the Marienburg Abbey. The High Court was exercised by the Abenberg nursing authority in Eichstatt , but this has been contested by the Roth authorities in Brandenburg-Ansbach since 1609 .

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 6 properties and a community shepherd's house in the village. The high court exercised the Abenberg nursing office, which was still contested by the Roth Oberamt. The village and community rulership was disputed between the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste office in Roth and the caste office in Abenberg. The landlords were the Kastenamt Abenberg and the Marienburg Abbey (1 Köblergut ), the Kastenamt Roth (1 whole courtyard, 2 half courtyards, 1 Gütlein with restaurant) and the Spitalamt Hl. Geist of the Imperial City of Nuremberg (1 whole courtyard).

As part of the municipal edict , the Asbach tax district was formed in 1808 , to which Aurau , Bechhofen , Kleinabenberg and Louisenau belonged. It belonged to the rural community Aurau founded in 1811 . On July 1, 1972, Asbach was incorporated into Büchenbach as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

Hop growing provided prosperity for a long time , today the importance of agriculture has declined sharply.
