Gauchsdorf is a district of the municipality of Büchenbach in the Middle Franconian district of Roth in Bavaria .

location

The village is seven kilometers south of Schwabach and six and a half kilometers west of Roth on a slight southern slope below the 397 m high "Schillbuck". This is a southern branch of the Heidenberg . A nameless stream rises at the Schillbuck, which feeds several ponds, borders Gauchsdorf to the east and flows into the Aurach as a receiving water . The Altort Gauchsdorf is bordered to the south by the Aurach, which flows further west from the southwest of the Hirtenbach. To the south of the village is an approximately 30 hectare mining area for construction sand, in which two quarry ponds have formed in the groundwater bed of the Aurach and the Kaltenbach .

Communal roads run to Götzenreuth (1.5 km north-west) and Kühedorf (1.4 km north-east) each to the RH 5 district road . A communal road leads to Breitenlohe to St 2224 (2 km east). The small special airfield Schwabach in Gauchsdorf ( ICAO : EDPH) has an asphalted 500 m long runway as well as a heliport , workshop and some hangars.

history

The area around Gauchsdorf was already inhabited by people in the Stone Age, as individual finds show. A settlement of several hectares from the Iron and Bronze Age was located 800 meters north of Gauchsdorf at the foot of the Schillbuck and is qualified as a ground monument . At the turn of the times, the area was the southernmost branch of the Narisker settlement area .

To the Roman period, the settlement was abandoned, because the limit was only a day's march southward away and the times were too restless. There are also no findings from the time of the Great Migration and only reappear sporadically after the Carolingian period.

The place we see today was almost certainly built in the 9th century on the then important trade route from Kammerstein to Roth, which ran along the Aurach Valley and where it crossed the so-called "Italerstraße". It was planned as a street village consisting of 6 courtyards . Refugee castles were built on Heidenberg to protect them from the Hungarians who were then moving about . The Osterwiese castle stables and the Eichelberg castle wall are also preserved as ground monuments. The first mill is said to have been built in the 12th century. In the 13th century Gauchsdorf probably consisted of 6 whole courtyards.

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1326 as "Gauchstorferius" on the occasion of the payment of tithes to the Ebrach monastery . The place name has the personal name of the founder Gaucho as a defining word and -reuth as the basic word , ie "For clearing the Gaucho". In 1349 the place was still in the possession of the Counts of Nassau , then later came to the Burgraviate of Nuremberg . In Urbar for the castle Count's Office Schwabach, which was erected about 1360, the place was called "Jaw e mentioned gszdorff". In the Salbuch of 1410, 1 mill, 5 goods and 1 half-good are given for "Gaugstorff". In the Salbuch of the now margravial office of Schwabach, which was set up in 1434, the same property was given for the place. There is also 1 farm that belonged to the Linck family from Schwabach. In 1623 8 properties were under the control of the Schwabach caste office . In 1732 there were 10 households in Gauchsdorf, according to Johann Georg Vetter's description of the upper office, 9 of which belonged to the Schwabach caste office (5 farms, 4 farms) and 1 estate to the Linck family.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 10 properties in Gauchsdorf (6 Ganzhöfe, 1 Köblergut , 1 Gütlein, 1 Fischgut, 1 grinding and sawmill) and a community shepherd's house. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Schwabach . The Schwabach caste office held the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over all properties . In 1800 there were 9 properties in the village.

In 1808, as part of the municipal edict, Gauchsdorf was assigned to the Günzersreuth tax district . It also belonged to the rural community of Günzersreuth formed in 1818 . On January 1, 1972, Gauchsdorf was incorporated into Büchenbach as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

In the 1960s, further residential developments were built; the Schwabach Aviation Association settled north of the local area and built its airfield there.

The year 1989 brought Gauchsdorf a short-term population increase when 60 GDR refugees were quartered there. Since then, a small industrial area and a new residential area have developed from the former village smithy. In 1995 there was a plane crash near Gauchsdorf.
