The place itself was only laid out at the beginning of the 14th century. In the Sage Book of 1407 there are 3 estates and a house for the place. Kleinabenberg formed a community with Louisenau.

The place was burned down during the Thirty Years War . In 1632 the place was uninhabited, which did not change for the next 40 years.

In 1671 there were 3 properties in Louisenau, all of which were subordinate to the Abenberg caste office . The High Court was exercised by the Abenberg Care Office in Eichstatt . Towards the end of the 18th century there were still 3 properties in the village. The High Court exercised the Abenberg Nursing Authority. The Abenberg caste office held the village and community rulership as well as the land rulership over the 3 half farms. In 1801 there were also 3 properties.

In 1808, Louisenau was assigned to the Asbach tax district as part of the parish edict . It belonged to the rural community Aurau founded in 1811 . On July 1, 1972, Louisenau was incorporated into Abenberg as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
