The Beerbach, a left tributary of the Franconian Rezat, flows through the village . Bramenleite is to the west, Mauerfeld to the south, and Dürrenmungenauer Holz is about 0.5 km to the north. The original Rezat once flowed there in the direction of Georgensgmünd .

The district road RH 9 leads after Wassermungenau to federal highway 466 (1.8 km west) or to Obersteinbach ob Gmünd (2.3 km east). Communal roads run to Dürrenmungenau (2 km north) and Pflugsmühle (1.1 km south-west).

history

In 1157 the place was first mentioned in a document as "Berenbach". The place was conveniently located on Burgunderstrasse . It originally consisted of 9 courtyards and also had a church with a cemetery, which was completely demolished in 1380. It originally belonged to the Counts of Abenberg and then became the legal successor to the Burgraves of Nuremberg . Bishop Reinboto von Eichstätt gained influence in the area through the purchase of Wernfels Castle in 1284 and the Spalter surrounding area in 1294/95. In the Salbuch of the Eichstättischen collegiate monastery St. Nikolaus zu Spalt from 1380 4 subject families are registered for Beerbach. In the books of 1469, 1517 and 1549 5 subject families are given. In 1529, five subject families were subordinate to the main Hergersbach team in the imperial city of Nuremberg .

In the 16-point report of the Oberamt Windsbach from 1608, 15 teams are listed for Beerbach: 1 yard was under the Ansbach Abbey , 1 estate was under the Merkendorf administration , 4 yards and 2 goods were under the collegiate monastery St. Nikolaus zu Spalt, 4 yards and 2 goods belonging to the imperial city of Nuremberg and 1 property belonged to the Schwabach caste office . There was also the communal shepherd's house. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste and city bailiff's office in Windsbach .

In 1634, Beerbach and the plow mill were completely burned down as a result of the 30 Years War and only rebuilt 30 years later. In the Eichstätter Salbuch of 1671 a subject family is listed for Beerbach, which was subordinate to the Abenberg caste office . The other subjects were subordinate to the collegiate monastery and the imperial city of Nuremberg.

In the official description of the Lichtenau Nursing Office from 1748, 22 subject families are specified for the place, 10 of which were subordinate to the Nursing Office and 12 foreign masters.

At the end of the 18th century there were 21 properties in Beerbach. The high court continued to exercise the caste and city bailiff's office in Windsbach , the place did not have a municipal ruler . The landlords were the Principality of Ansbach ( Kastenamt Windsbach : 1 cone management, 1 grinding mill; Stiftsamt Ansbach: 1 half yard; administration office Merkendorf: 1 Gütlein), the Hochstift Eichstätt ( box office Spalt : 1 whole yard, 3 half yards, 3 Köblergüter ; box office Abenberg: 1 forged estate ) , the imperial city of Nuremberg ( hospital and Katharinenklosteramt : 3 whole yards; Siechkobelstiftung St. Johannis: 1 Gütlein), the Nuremberg owner Kreß von Kressenstein (3 half yards) , the manor Dürrenmungenau (1 whole yard) and the Teutonic Order Coming Nuremberg (1 half yard). In addition to the property, there were communal (shepherd's house) and stately buildings (house no. 4). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the Justice and Chamber Office Windsbach .

In the geographic statistical-topographic lexicon of Franconia (1799) the place is described as follows:

Berbach, a mixed hamlet in the Ansbachian Kameral-Amte Windspach between Wassermungenau and Ober-Steinbach, there are 8 tax and 3 fief subjects, the last 3 and 1 of the former belong to the Abenberg box office, the remaining 7 to the collegiate monastery Tax office in Spalt, the toe, however, to the local collegiate monastery itself.
Burgrave Conrad the Younger had the advocacy for Berbach as a fief in Nuremberg from the diocese of Regenspurg. In an exchange made in 1294 between Eichstätt and Regenspurg, Bishop Heinrich von Regenspurg ceded this dominum directum of the advocacy over Berbach to Bishop Reimbolt zu Eichstätt, a noble von Mühlenhart among others. "

As part of the municipal edict, Beerbach was assigned to the Wassermungenau tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It belonged to the rural community Wassermungenau, founded in 1810 . With the second community edict (1818) Beerbach broke away with plow mill from Wassermungenau and formed a rural community. It was subject to the Heilsbronn Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and the Windsbach Rent Office in the financial administration . From 1862 to 1879 Beerbach was administered by the Heilsbronn district office, since 1880 by the Schwabach district office (renamed the Schwabach district in 1938 ) and the Spalt rent office ( renamed the Spalt tax office in 1920 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Heilsbronn until 1879 and came from 1880 to the district court Roth . In 1932 the Spalt tax office was dissolved. Since then, Beerbach has been subordinate to the Schwabach tax office . The municipality had an area of 6.067 km². On May 1, 1978, Beerbach was incorporated into Abenberg as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
