history

The place was probably founded in the second half of the 8th century by Bavarian settlers. It is located on an old road and is one of the four settlements that are named after the river Aurach .

The place probably consisted of 5 whole courtyards in the 13th century. In 1355 the place was first mentioned in a document as "Barthelmes Aurach". In Urbar for the castle Count's Office Schwabach, established about 1360, the place is called "Bartelmesau e mentioned Herzogenaurach". In the Salbuch from 1410 only a Seldengütlein and a fishing water are recorded for the place . All other properties were owned by foreigners. In the salbuch of the now margravial office of Schwabach from 1434 two Seldengüter and one fishing water are listed for the place. In 1530, two other properties were recorded that were subordinate to the parish of Barthelmesaurach and seven properties that were subordinate to foreign masters. In 1732 there were 24 properties in Barthelmesaurach, according to Johann Georg Vetter's descriptions of the upper office : 18 properties were subordinate to the Principality of Ansbach ( Kastenamt Schwabach 14, Spital Schwabach 2, Kornamt Schwabach 2), the imperial city of Nuremberg (Reiches Almosen 2, Spitalamt Heilig Geist 1, Pfinzing von Henfenfeld 1), 7 the German Order Commander Nuremberg and the Katzwang Office of the Ebrach Monastery 1.

Towards the end of the 18th century, the number of properties increased to 25. The high court south of the Aurach was exercised by the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste and municipal bailiff's office in Windsbach and north of the Aurach by the Schwabach upper office, while the Schwabach caste office held the authority of the village and the community . The landlords were the principality of Ansbach (18 properties; caste office Schwabach, 2 Köbler estates , 2 fish estates , 1 inn, 7 empty houses , 1 bath house, 1 smithy; city judges office Schwabach : 1 estate, 1 empty house; Schwabach hospital: 2 estates) the imperial city of Nuremberg (state alms office: 1 half courtyard, 1 half courtyard with tavern, 1 empty building; Heilig Geist Hospital: 1 Ganzhof; Pfinzing Foundation: 1 Ganzhof), the Teutonic Order Nuremberg (1 Ganzhof) and the Katzwang Office of the Ebrach Monastery (1 half courtyard). In addition to the property, there were ecclesiastical (parish church, rectory) and communal buildings (school, shepherd's house). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the Justice and Chamber Office Windsbach . At that time there were 23 subject families, 17 of which were Ansbachian.

In 1806 Barthelmesaurach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , the Barthelmesaurach tax district was formed in 1808 , to which Barthelmesaurach, Ebersbach , Hasenmühle , Haubenhof , Kapsdorf , Mildach and Rudelsdorf belonged. The rural community of Barthelmesaurach was founded in 1810 and was congruent with the tax district. It was subject to the Heilsbronn Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and the Windsbach Rent Office in the financial administration . With the second community edict (1818), two rural communities were formed:

  • Rural community of Barthelmesaurach with Hasenmühle, Haubenhof, Mildach and Rudelsdorf;
  • Rural community Ebersbach with Kapsdorf.

From 1862 to 1879 Barthelmesaurach was administered by the Heilsbronn district office, since 1880 by the Schwabach district office ( renamed Schwabach district in 1938 ) and the Schwabach rent office ( renamed Schwabach tax office in 1920 ). Jurisdiction remained with the Heilsbronn District Court until 1879 and with the Schwabach District Court from 1880 . The municipality had an area of 8.338 km². On May 1, 1978, the municipality of Barthelmesaurach was incorporated into Kammerstein as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

From 2000 onwards, a new industrial park was built on the B 466 .

On November 23, 2003, Mayor Walter Schnell of the Kammerstein community and representatives of the Barthelmesaurach parish announced an official moral rehabilitation for Margaretha Kurz from Mildach, who was persecuted as a witch.

Architectural monuments

  • Old Aurach Bridge
A bridge was reported as early as 1530. In 1749 it was rebuilt. Further restorations took place in 1906, 1927 and 1995/96. The hosts of the two inns alternately served the barrier at the bridge for a fee .
In the 19th century, the preload service became a welcome income; Horses and oxen from Barthelmesaurach farmers helped the heavy carts to negotiate the steep hills on both sides of the village.
  • Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Bartholomew
The chapel, consecrated to St. Bartholomew, was rebuilt in the late 14th century, the tower of today's parish church dates from this time. The nave was built in 1804. It is worth mentioning the ribs of the cross vaults . These were knocked out except for small rudiments.
The pulpit is arranged in the margrave style directly above the altar. The cemetery around the church was mentioned as early as 1599.
