geography

The Volkach , a right tributary of the Schwabach, flows through the village . The Alexander and Friedrich springs, named after the Margraves of Ansbach, have their source near the village and fed the beautiful fountain and the horse fountain in Schwabach from 1715 to 1869 via the Schwabach aqueduct. In the south are the corridor areas "Im Irrlbach" and "Am Kammersteiner Weg". The “Berghol” forest area borders in the east, and Kastenholz is approx. 0.5 km to the northwest.

A communal road leads to Volkersgau (2.2 km southwest) or to Unterreichenbach to State Road 2239 (1.7 km northeast). Further communal roads lead to Schattenhof (2.2 km south) and to Gustenfelden to state road 2239 (1 km north).

history

The place was conveniently located on an old road from the Carolingian era , which led from Fürth to Weißenburg , and on an elevated road from Schwabach to Ansbach . In 1313 the place was first mentioned in a document as "Obern Reichenbach" in the fief register of Ramung IV. Von Kammerstein . The place is a spin-off from the older Unterreichenbach . The place name is derived from the water body of the same name, which was later renamed Volkach. The burgraviate of Nuremberg had claims in the place, followed by the margraviate of Ansbach . In the Margravial Salbuch of 1434 two farms are given for “Obernreichenbach”. In addition, foreign lords were wealthy with five goods and one Seldengut . In the Salbuch of 1530 the foreign property is described in more detail: one was subordinate to a W. Linck from Schwabach, one from the Schwabach Hospital , three were from Nuremberg. In 1732 there were 7 properties in Oberreichenbach, according to Johann Georg Vetter's descriptions of the upper office, of which 2 properties were subordinate to the Schwabach caste office , one property was subordinate to the Schwabach hospital, one to the St. Katharina office of the imperial city of Nuremberg and three Nuremberg owners ( von Orte , von Pfinzing and Rieter von Kornburg one each).

Towards the end of the 18th century there were nine properties and a community shepherd's house in Oberreichenbach. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Schwabach . The caste office Schwabach held the village and community rulership. The landlords were the Principality of Ansbach (box office Schwabach: 2 half yards , 2 empty houses ; Spital Schwabach: 1 whole yard), the imperial city of Nuremberg (office St. Katharina: 1 whole yard; Rieter's foundation administration Kornburg : 1 half yard), the Nuremberg owner von Stromer ( 1 whole courtyard) and from Griesenbeck in Amberg (1 half courtyard). In 1802 there were eight subject families in the village, four of which were subordinate to the Oberamt Schwabach and four from outside rulers.

In 1808, as part of the municipal edict, Oberreichenbach was assigned to the tax district Unterreichenbach . It also belonged to the rural community Unterreichenbach, which was formed in 1818 and was renamed Volkersgau on June 9, 1960 , after Unterreichenbach had been reclassified to Schwabach . On May 1, 1978, Oberreichenbach was incorporated into Kammerstein as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
