The Nebles Point (in Argentina Punta Perro for dogs peak in Chile Punta San Bernardo for Bernard tip ) is a headland in southwest of King George Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In Maxwell Bay it forms the western limit of the entrance to Collins Harbor .
The British navigator James Weddell named Collins Harbor or a natural harbor north of Ardley Island as Nebles Harbor on his map from 1825 . Since this part of the map could not be clearly assigned later, the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee decided in 1960 to transfer Weddell's designation to the headland described here. The further background of Weddell's naming is not known. The namesake of the Argentine and Chilean names are probably St. Bernard dogs, which were landed here during the 2nd Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1947–1948).
