Community structure
The municipality has seven officially named municipality parts (the type of settlement is given in brackets ):
- Furth ( village )
- Hagershof ( wasteland )
- Harm (village)
- Holzgut (wasteland)
- Leerstetten ( parish village )
- Mittelhembach (village)
- Schwand near Nuremberg (former market)
history
The current district of Schwand was first mentioned in 1186, the district of Leerstetten in 1194.
On May 1, 1978, the Schwanstetten store was re-established by merging the previously independent Schwand store near Nuremberg with the municipality of Leerstetten. The name of the new municipality is made up of parts of the previous place names Schwan d and Leerstetten , a new creation that is almost unique in Bavaria. The name Markt and thus the market rights were taken over from Markt Schwand.

badges and flags
The community of Schwanstetten has had a coat of arms since 1980.
Blazon : "Under a crenellated shield head in blue on a green mountain, divided by black and silver , a gold-armored silver swan ."
White and green municipal flag |
|
Justification of the coat of arms: The swan was taken from a Schwand court seal from 1468. The name actually indicates that Schwand is a settlement that was created on the site of a slash and burn area . The forest was made to sway , that is, to shrink. The shield head, divided by black and silver, reminds of the rule of the Zollerischen burgraves of Nuremberg and later margraves. The burgraves are traceable in the municipality from 1267. The crenellated cut stands for the part of the name -stetten . |

traffic
The B 2 touches the municipality in the far west. The community is connected to the autobahn-like federal highway via two district roads.
Several bus lines connect Schwanstetten to the surrounding area and the S-Bahn stations in Schwabach and Roth. A line of Omnibusverkehr Franken to the Nuremberg subway station Frankenstrasse should be emphasized . The bus connection to Allersberg (Rothsee) train station was discontinued in December 2010.
The Main-Danube Canal runs from northwest to south through the western municipal area. The Leerstetten lock, named after the Schwanstetten district, is located in the community-free area of Soos.
