Mittelhembach is a district of the Schwanstetten market in the Roth district of Central Franconia .

location

The cluster village is located one kilometer west of the Schwand district , about 18 kilometers south of Nuremberg and is largely surrounded by forest. The Hembach flows south past the place and crosses here in a stately 120 meter long and 9 meter deep culvert under the Main-Danube Canal , which borders the place to the west.

history

Mittelhembach was first mentioned in a document in 1363. The exact date of origin is unknown, but it can be presumed shortly after the neighboring communities in the early 12th century. The original four farmsteads belonged to the area of ​​influence of the Margraves of Ansbach in the 14th century. Nine courtyards are known from 1623. The memorials in Mittelhembach are an atonement cross from the 15th century and a wayside shrine, 17/18. Century. During the construction of the Main-Danube Canal, these were in danger of going off, so they were relocated and are now in the center of the village. In 1757 a widow who had poisoned her five-year-old child was charged at the Schwand judicial office and beheaded with the sword. In the course of the regional reform , the municipality of Leerstetten , to which Mittelhembach belonged, was incorporated into Schwanstetten on May 1, 1978 , which acquired the title of Markt from the Schwand district .

The formerly existing historical building fabric is no longer preserved in Mittelhembach, except for two stone crosses, no architectural monuments are qualified.
