The community-free area of Soos is located in the Central Franconian district of Roth .

The 1.30 km² large state forest is located between Rednitzhembach and Schwanstetten . The national road 2 extending therethrough. On the eastern edge is the Main-Danube Canal and the Leerstetten lock . With a lifting height of 24.67 meters, it is one of the highest locks in Europe.
