Franz Palm (dance teacher)

Franz Palm (born March 8, 1907 , † January 24, 1981 ) was a German dance teacher.

biography

In 1926 Palm was the founder of the Frankfurter Tanzkreis as a “dance, singing and play group”, which he directed until 1970. Between 1950 and 1970 he was deputy head of the working group for dance in Germany. In his main job, head of department of the youth welfare office of the city of Frankfurt am Main, Franz Palm was a dance teacher and an expert on the folk dance scene .

He made a particular contribution to the introduction of square dance in Germany. He translated dance descriptions from English into German. He was also significantly involved in setting up / founding the “ House of Youth ” in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen and a youth choir.
