Franz Reiter (politician)

Franz Reiter (born January 25, 1962 in Kufstein ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). He is chairman of the ÖGB -Tirol and was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament from 2003 to 2008 as well as its second vice-president.

education and profession

After attending elementary and secondary school, Franz Reiter completed the polytechnic course and then began an apprenticeship as a fitter. Between 1977 and 1992 he worked as a locksmith and graduated from the Social Academy of the Vienna Chamber of Labor . He also completed an HFL distance learning course in business administration . Franz Reiter has been a commercial employee since 1992 and currently works for Veitsch Radex GmbH.

Franz Reiter is heavily involved in the ÖGB. He has been chairman of the works council in Hochfilzen since 1992 . In addition, Reiter is the European works council and central works council of Veitsch Radex GmbH. In 2000 he was elected chairman of the Tyrolean ÖGB.

politics

Reiter was Mayor of St. Jakob in Haus between 1992 and December 1, 2003 . In the state elections in 2003 he took fourth place on the SPÖ state list and entered the Tyrolean state parliament on October 21, 2003. On the same day he was elected second vice-president of the Tyrolean state parliament. He is a member of the committees for “Labor, Social Affairs and Health”, “Economy, Tourism and Technology”, as well as a member of the “Immunity and Incompatibility Committee” and the Emergency Committee. On the state list presented by the SPÖ on March 31, 2008 for the state elections in 2008, Reiter was no longer among the top ten people. He renounced a renewed candidacy after he had been moved from eighth place on the state list to eleventh place and left the state parliament on July 1, 2008. In August 2008, Reiter also announced that he might not want to run again in the upcoming election of the Tyrolean ÖGB President.

Private

Franz Reiter lives in Haus in St. Jakob. He is married and has two sons.
