Christian Friedrich Franke
Christian Friedrich Franke, also: Francke, (born August 18, 1767 in Wittenberg ; † March 25, 1794 ibid) was a German Protestant theologian.
Life
Franke was a son of the Wittenberg city judge, court judge and consistory advocate Christian Gottfried Franke (born January 29, 1712 in Marinau; † March 31, 1789 in Wittenberg) and his wife Ernestine Elisabeth, the daughter of the Wittenberg professor of theology Christian Friedrich Bauer .
From 1780 he attended the electoral state school in Grimma and began his studies at the University of Wittenberg in 1785 . Here he acquired the academic degree of a Magister in Philosophy on October 17, 1787 and, after obtaining the license to read for universities as a Magister legens on November 14, 1788, gave private lectures. On April 1, 1789, he was habilitated as an adjunct at the philosophical faculty of the Wittenberg University and on February 2, 1790 he was ordained as a plague pastor at the Wittenberg church.
After he had acquired the baccalaureate of theology under Franz Volkmar Reinhard in 1791 and thus gained access to the theological faculty of the university, he became an associate professor of philosophy in 1793 . He died the following year.
Franke was married to a daughter of Johann Christoph Erdmann and his wife Christiane Elenore Clausnitzer. She was the widow of the Dresden Appellation Council D. Grebel. Children are not known.
