St. Jakob in Haus is a municipality with 795 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Kitzbühel district in Tyrol ( Austria ). The community is located in the judicial district of Kitzbühel .
geography
St. Jakob in Haus is the smallest municipality in the Kitzbühel district and is located in the Pillerseetal , which branches off from Fieberbrunn . The almost 10 km² large community includes, in addition to the small clustered village with the village church, several hamlets, of which Moosbach and Mühlau have grown into larger settlements. There are also numerous individual farms in scattered locations.
history
St. Jakob in Haus was first mentioned in a document in 1308 with the name "zue sant Jacob hintz Haus", but the area was already settled in the 10th century . The community belonged in part to the Hofmark Pillersee and was one of the properties of the Benedictine monastery Rott, which is north of Rosenheim . The Hofmark "Billersee" was in a confirmation document from Pope Eugene III. named in 1151. This Hofmark was a closed area that included today's Pillerseegemeinden (except Waidring ).

Culture and sights
- Parish church St. Jakob in Haus: The parish church hl. James the Elder was probably built in 1273 and first mentioned in a document in 1308. When an avalanche destroyed the church to the ground in 1689, it was rebuilt in the same place. The figures from the period of construction are by Georg Faistenberger, the altarpiece Resurrection of Jesus Christ by Ignaz Faistenberger and the ceiling painting by Johann Endfelder .
