The Buchensteinwand is part of the Kirchbergstock , 1462 m above sea level. A. high mountain near Fieberbrunn in Tyrol .
Location and surroundings
The Buchensteinwand is a free-standing mountain that slopes gently from an east-west ridge to the north ( St. Jakob in Haus ) and steeply to the south (Fieberbrunn). It is part of the geologically similar Kirchbergstock, but sometimes also seen as a foothill of the Loferer Steinberge . It is located in the municipal areas of St. Jakob in Haus, St. Ulrich am Pillersee , Hochfilzen and Fieberbrunn, which meet on the ridge.
Development
The Buchensteinwand is developed as a ski area, from St. Jakob with a chairlift , from Hochfilzen with drag lifts .
Jacob Cross
In 2014 the Bergbahnen Pillersee erected a 29.6 m high accessible summit cross on the summit called the Jakobskreuz . It is a cross-shaped building with four arms that houses exhibition and seminar rooms. There are five viewing platforms on the roof areas of the rooms and on the highest level of the cross .
