history
In a traditional note of the Abbey of St. Peter in Salzburg of about 1143-1147 Waidring is called "Waitheringin" first mentioned in documents. Around 1266/67 the brothers of Salzburg Archbishop Friedrich von Walchen bought goods in Waidring. The baroque parish church, which presumably had two previous buildings, was consecrated in 1764. Until the secularization in 1803, the land rulership lay with the Walchen from the Pinzgau. Waidring has belonged to Tyrol since 1504.
During the fifth coalition war , Waidring was sacked by Bavarian troops on May 11th and 12th, 1809 after the defeat of the Tyroleans on the Strub Pass . Ecclesiastically Waidring belonged to the Diocese of Chiemsee until it became part of the Archdiocese of Salzburg in 1817. In 1821 there were 108 houses in the municipality, and for 1834 there are 762 inhabitants.
In May 1945, the National Socialist journalist Julius Streicher was arrested by soldiers of the US Army in Waidring following a complaint from the population .
