The judicial district of Kitzbühel (originally the judicial district of Kitzbichl ) is a judicial district in the state of Tyrol that is subordinate to the district court of Kitzbühel . Since 2003, the judicial district has encompassed the entire political district of Kitzbühel.

history

In 1297 the court seat for the Leukental was moved from Leukentstein Castle near St. Johann in Tirol to Kitzbühel. The following is the talk of the rulership of Kitzbühel, which came to Tyrol in 1504 under Emperor Maximilian I of Bavaria. The lordship of Kitzbühel included the area of today's Kitzbühel district without the Brixental, which belonged to Salzburg until 1816.

The judicial district of Kitzbühel was created by an announcement made by the State Court Introductory Commission in 1849 and originally comprised the 15 communities Aurach , Fieberbrunn , Going , Hochfilzen , Jochberg , Kirchdorf , Kitzbichl (Land) , Kitzbichl (City) , Kössen , Reith , Schwendt , St. Jakob , St. Johann , St. Ulrich and Waidring .

The judicial district of Kitzbühel formed the district of Kitzbühel together with the judicial district of Hopfgarten as part of the separation of the political and judicial administration from 1868 .

The number of municipalities in the judicial district remained stable until 2002, although Oberndorf in Tirol from St. Johann in Tirol achieved independence in 1927 and the municipalities of Kitzbühel Land and Kitzbühel Stadt were merged into one municipality. With the District Court Ordinance of the Austrian Federal Government passed in 2002, the Hopfgarten District Court was closed and the area of the judicial district was added to the Kitzbühel judicial district. The ordinance came into force on July 1, 2002 and expanded the judicial district of Kitzbühel to include the five municipalities of Brixen im Thale , Hopfgarten im Brixental , Itter , Kirchberg in Tirol and Westendorf . The area of the judicial district increased from 761.45 km² to 1,162.25 km².
