The judicial district of Merano was the District Court Meran under standing judicial district in the princely county of Tyrol . The judicial district located in the Burgrave Office comprised the city of Merano and its surrounding area and belonged to the district of Merano . After the First World War , Austria had to cede the entire judicial district to Italy .

history

The judicial district of Meran was created by a proclamation made by the State Court Introductory Commission in 1849 and originally comprised the 16 communities of Algund , Burgstall , Gargazon , Gratsch , Avelengo , Kuens , Meran , Natturns , Obermais , Partschins , Plaus , Riffian , Schöna , Tyrol , Untermais and Verano .

In the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration from 1868, the judicial district of Meran , together with the judicial districts of Lana , Glurns , Schlanders and Passeier, formed the district of Meran , whereby the judicial districts of Schlanders and Glurns were split off as an independent district of Schlanders from October 1, 1901 . The judicial district had a population of 17,038 in 1869.

In 1910, 38,229 people (including 4,425 so-called “foreigners”) were expelled from the judicial district, of whom 32,224 stated German (84.3%) and 1,429 Italian or Ladin (3.7%) as the colloquial language.

Due to the border regulations of the Treaty of Saint-Germain signed on September 10, 1919 , the judicial district of Merano was completely slammed into Italy.

Courthouse

In 1910 the court district comprised the 17 municipalities of Algund , Burgstall , Gargazon , Gratsch , Hafling , Kuens , Marling , Meran , Naturns , Obermais , Partschins , Plaus , Riffian , Schönna , Tyrol , Untermais and Verano .

The municipality of Marling was split into two municipalities in 1897, the new municipality of Tscherms remained with the judicial district of Lana, Marling, however, was only removed from the judicial district of Lana on January 1, 1910 and assigned to the judicial district of Merano.
