Franz Riel

Franz Riel (born October 6, 1895 in Horn , † July 4, 1952 in Krems an der Donau ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and lawyer. Riel was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1945 to 1949 .

Riel attended high school and did his military service during the First World War . He then studied history and geography at the University of Vienna and later law, becoming a Dr. phil and Dr. jur. PhD. He worked as an independent lawyer from 1932 and lived in Krems an der Donau, where he was a member of the municipal council from 1935 to 1938 and was mayor of Krems between 1945 and 1950. Riel also represented the ÖVP from December 12, 1945 to November 5, 1949 in the Lower Austrian state parliament.
