Franz Schillhuber

Franz Schillhuber (born May 28, 1950 in Wolfern ) is an Upper Austrian farmer and politician ( ÖVP ). Schillhuber was mayor of the municipality of Wolfern from 1997 to 2014 and a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament from 2003 to 2015 .

education and profession

Schillhuber grew up with his two sisters on their parents' farm. In 1954 his father died in an accident at work. Schillhuber first attended elementary school in Wolfern and then switched to boarding school in St. Anna in Steyr , where he completed secondary school. From 1966 to 1968 Schillhuber attended the agricultural college in Lambach , in 1972 he passed the master craftsman examination.

Schillhuber continued his education at the "Farmers Academy" and took part in the "Farmers and Entrepreneurs Training". In 1978, Schillhuber took over his parents' business and has been running an arable farm with seed production and beet cultivation ever since .

politics

Schillhuber became involved in 1968 as chairman of the rural youth and was district chairman of the rural youth in the Steyr Land district. From 1979 to 1985 he was the deputy chairman of the young farmers of Upper Austria. Schillhuber was also chairman of the local farmers' union and moved into the municipal council in 1985. On April 26, 1996, Schillhuber was elected mayor of the municipality and also took over the office of ÖVP party chairman. In June 2014, he resigned and Karl Mayr was elected as his successor as mayor.

From October 23, 2003, Schillhuber represented the ÖVP in the Upper Austrian state parliament. He was a member of the committees for finance, general internal affairs and economic affairs.

Private

Schillhuber has been married since 1972 and has two sons and a daughter.
