Franz Schmatz

Franz Schmatz (born May 11, 1870 in Laaben , † October 14, 1953 in Neulengbach ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ) and innkeeper. Schmatz was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1919 to 1934 .

Schmatz attended a community school after primary school and then graduated from a commercial school . He then worked as an innkeeper in Neulengbach. In 1901 Schmatz became the head of the inns cooperative of the Neulengbach district, he was also a member of the local council, a member of the district road committee and chamber councilor of the district chamber of farmers. In 1908 Schmatz applied for the first time as a free Christian social candidate for the state parliament, but was defeated by Karl Lechner . Finally Schmatz moved into the state parliament on May 20, 1919, where he was a member of the Lower Austria Land Curia between November 10, 1920 and May 11, 1921. Schmatz left the state parliament on May 21, 1932. He was then mayor of Neulengbach from 1934 to 1938.
