Franz Schmitt (politician, 1865)

Franz Schmitt (born March 24, 1865 in Riedenheim , † June 11, 1941 in Würzburg ) was a German politician ( BVP ) and councilor of commerce.

Live and act

After attending primary school and the Fischer secondary school institute in Würzburg, Schmitt was trained at the agricultural school in Würzburg. He then completed an apprenticeship as a banker. From 1891 to 1922 Schmitt was co-owner of the grain and feed wholesaler Schmitt & Schuckert in Würzburg. He took on his first public office as a magistrate or city councilor in Würzburg.

After the First World War , Schmitt joined the Bavarian People's Party (BVP). For this he was elected in 1919 to the 2nd President of the District Council of Lower Franconia. From May 1928 to September 1930 Schmitt also sat in the Reichstag , in which he represented constituency 26 (Franconia). In 1940 he was awarded the bronze city plaque by the city of Würzburg.
