Modesto Álvarez Domínguez , Modesto Álvarez for short (born February 24, 1975 ) is a Spanish biathlete .

Modesto Álvarez made his international debut at the 2001 Biathlon Military World Championships in Jericho , where he was 83rd in the sprint race. In 2002 he made his debut in the Biathlon European Cup in Obertilliach , and a year later in Hochfilzen as 111th in the sprint race in the Biathlon World Cup . In Oberhof he ran the 2004 Biathlon World Championships and finished 103rd in the individual and 109th in the sprint. The 103rd place was also the Spaniard's best World Cup result. A little later, Álvarez took part again in the military world championship in Östersundpart. He finished 85th in the sprint and 24th in the military patrol. The pre-Olympic competition in Cesana San Sicario at the end of the season was particularly successful . The competition was not part of the official World Cup program, but it was top-class and approximately achieved its value. The Spaniard was only 109 in the sprint, but he finished 18th in the individual and left, for example, later medal winners of the games such as Julien Robert , Sergei Tschepikow , Raphaël Poirée , Vincent Defrasne and even Ole Einar Bjørndalen far behind. So far, the last career highlight was participation in the Biathlon World Championships 2005 in Hochfilzen, where he was 113th in the individual and 109th in the sprint. Since 2005 Álvarez has not competed internationally.
