Franz Schuler (singer)

Franz Schuler ( December 21, 1862 in Würzburg - after 1903) was a German opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Franz Schuler took singing lessons from Julius Hey in Berlin. In 1888 he appeared at the court theater in Coburg as "David" in Richard Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg for the first time. After working in Coburg for a year, he came to the theater in Koblenz (1889–1890), then to the court theater in Mannheim (1891). In 1891/1892 he sang at the Residenztheater in Hanover, in October of the last year he appeared as "William" in the Laughing Heirs in the ensemble of the Carltheater after he had sung on the same stage a month earlier in the operetta The Gypsy Baron .

He worked there as an operetta tenor until 1893, and then accepted an engagement at the Lindentheater in Berlin (1894). He then played for two years at the Theater in Lodz and in 1897 became a member of the City Theater in Breslau , where he also worked for two years. In 1899 he appeared in the ensemble of the Frankfurt City Theater , then in the Residenztheater in Dresden (1900 and 1901), until 1902 he was a member of the Brno City Theater .

In the years 1888, 1889 and 1891 Schuler was also artistically active at the stage festival in Bayreuth. In 1889 he was entrusted with the role of "David" in the Meistersingers on behalf of Sebastian Hofmüller .

His life after 1902 is unknown.
