The Raubling grammar school is a grammar school in Raubling , Upper Bavaria , where 824 students are currently taught by 90 teachers in 24 classes and in the qualification phase. It offers linguistic and scientific and technological training. The catchment area extends far beyond Raubling and sometimes even beyond the Austrian border.

profile

At the Raubling grammar school, the first foreign language, English, is compulsory from year 5. In the 6th grade, another foreign language, either French or Latin, is added. The direction of training is also decided. If you choose French, you take the natural science and technology (NTG) gear. 228 students are currently completing this. But if you decide for Latin and against NTG, thus for the linguistic branch, you will learn a third foreign language. 37 students have chosen French and 119 have chosen Italian.

Individual support is an essential part of school life. Particularly talented students are given special support after class in courses such as the “ Jugend forscht ” group. But also low-performing students are supported in their problem subjects.

In order to make everyday school life more lively, numerous working groups are offered, such as photography or technology. Theater groups, orchestras or choirs are available as elective courses, all of which are led by teachers. In addition, the Raubling grammar school offers sport-loving jazz dance , various school teams, fencing and sport climbing.

history

The construction of the school was decided on July 5, 1994 by the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture as a grammar school with grades 5–13. Construction began in 1995, so that school operations with grades 5–8 could begin in the 1997/1998 school year. With around 200 beginners in seven entry classes, the Raublinger Gymnasium is one of the front runners in Bavaria in terms of enrollment figures in its first year. In 2003 the first Abitur certificates were finally handed over and in 2006 the first own Abitur class was completed.

Until the 2001/2002 school year, the grammar school was under the direction of Josef Huber, who was replaced by Kathrin Hörmann-Lösch in the 2002/2003 school year. The school has been run by Armin Stadler since the 2018/2019 school year. Due to the rapid growth of the school, the decision was made earlier than planned to start construction work on the extension. In 2001 a large new wing was opened to relieve the strained space situation. With the switch from G9 to G8 , the need for affordable and nutritious lunch for the students also increased, so in July 2007 a new canteen was opened on the premises.

activities

At the Raubling grammar school, many events are organized annually by teachers, parents and students. The fifth grades are greeted with a large reception party in the first days of school. During the rest of the school year, food coaching courses and sports tournaments are held for fifth graders. All 6th grades can take part in a reading night and a winter sports week in an Austrian ski area . For the 7th grade, who have chosen French as their second foreign language, there is a student exchange with a school in Dijon . Towards the end of the school year, the school also offers an addiction prevention seminar. The curriculum of the Free State of Bavaria obliges the 9th grades of all Bavarian high schools to visit a concentration camp within the framework of German history . Here the school drives to the concentration camp in Dachau every year . In the last week of school, the students look for an internship as part of their business class. The students are prepared for this with a behavioral course from AOK Bavaria . In the tenth grade, the students visit the Bavarian state parliament . A student exchange with a school in Marseille is offered for the French classes, the Italian classes go to Valdagno . Alternatively, a student exchange can be made with a partner school in Sydney ( Australia ), Shanghai ( People's Republic of China ) or in Orange County / California ( United States of America).

In addition to the lessons, there are also many opportunities to get involved in working groups or elective courses outside of school:

Every four years the school organizes an unlimited run for all students . This is a solidarity run in which the students, but also teachers, look for sponsors who they then support with a fixed amount for each round run. The "run up" money will be donated to two aid projects that the school has supported for a long time. The run in 2014 was sponsored by Marinus Kraus , German ski jumper and federal police officer . In 2014, the students ran around 11,000 kilometers.

Mission statement

In the 2011/2012 school year, the school development team, consisting of the school management, representatives of the parents and the students, set itself the goal of developing a model for the Raubling grammar school. The focus of the mission statement is respect . The resulting motto is: Learning together. Work together. Live together.
