Franz Seemann

Franz L. Seemann (born August 3, 1887 in Berlin , † December 19, 1963 in Los Angeles , United States ) was a German architect and film architect of the 1920s.

Live and act

Seemann came to film after his artistic training and military service at the beginning of the Weimar Republic . In the 1920s he designed an abundance of film structures for predominantly secondary productions. In this decade he worked until the end of the silent film era a. a. with the directors Johannes Guter , Richard Oswald , Ludwig Berger , Viktor Janson , Rudolf Meinert , Constantin J. David , Fred Sauer , Erich Schönfelder , Franz Osten and Richard Eichberg . He also directed the short film documentary Head Cold - Feet Warm in 1928. After the kidnapping story from the underworld " blackmailer ", Seemann withdrew from the film business in 1929 and worked from then on as an architect.

Classified as a so-called "full Jew" by the National Socialists , Franz Seemann was no longer able to continue working in Germany from 1933 onwards. He finally emigrated to the USA, where he was naturalized in 1955. The exact activities of the Berliner, who lives in California as Franz Seeman , are not known.
