action
The bachelors Ernst Westerkamp and Kurt Felsing, an architect, are close friends, but there is a big difference between the two: While Westerkamp is very wealthy and lives in a beautiful house, Felsing is always short of money and is currently even unemployed. Westerkamp has an expensive girlfriend in the dancer Marion, while Felsing has so far only kept one eye on Käte, the daughter of his landlady. One day a silver lining appears when friend Ernst Kurt wins a large contract to build an institute for sport and physical culture. At the inauguration of the sports arena, Westerkamp is also present, who as another visitor sees the girl Hilde again, whom he recently met on the street and with whom he fell in shock. Ernst Hilde then invites you to the “Trocadero”, where the young girl gets to know the sophisticated “big, wide world” for the first time.
Ernst's friend Marion, who stepped in as a dancer for a sick colleague, also performs in this entertainment establishment. When Marion sees Hilde at Westerkamp's side in the box, she later makes a scene for him when leaving the restaurant, in which she makes a tactless remark. Marion died for Westerkamp as a friend and lover, but Hilde was deeply affected and she ran away. Ernst has seriously fallen in love with Hilde, he runs after her and makes up with her. Felsing, who has meanwhile become the manager of the sports facility, has now gotten closer to Käte, who promptly became pregnant by him. Kurt tells her that he is looking forward to becoming a father in the near future and of course that he wants to marry her. And so the two eternal bachelors become well-behaved married couples who promise each other to always remain loyal in the future.
