Franz Wilhelm Schön

Franz Wilhelm Schön (* 1784 in Cologne ; † November 5, 1871 in Lons-le-Saunier ) was a German history , landscape and portrait painter .

Life

Schön was probably already trained as an artist before 1811, at least a first artistic activity in Cologne can be verified for this year. From 1811 Schön stayed in Paris for further artistic training, where he became a student at the École des beaux-arts and in Antoine-Jean Gros' studio . Before 1839 he moved to Lons-le-Saunier, where he worked as a painter and painting restorer until his death.
