Franz Zderadicka

Franz Zderadicka (born June 15, 1963 ) is an Austrian basketball coach and former player.

Zderadicka played for Union Döbling, BK Klosterneuburg and Union Wels. With Klosterneuburg he won the Austrian championship seven times in a row in the 1980s and formed a strong team with Lucas Hajda . He stayed in Klosterneuburg until 1990. He was also a long-time team player, played 40 international matches and was captain of the national team. In September 1990, he suffered serious leg injuries in a traffic accident and had to retire. After the end of his competitive sports career, he was later a member of the Austrian senior national team, with which in the over 45 competition class participated in European and world championships, among other things.

Trainer

Between 1994 and 1997 he was the head coach of the Bundesliga club Möllersdorf and led the team to win the national cup in 1997. He then headed the Lower Austria South Performance Center from 1998 to 2012. In 1999 and 2000 Zderadicka looked after Austria's male U20 national team. In 2006 he was briefly coach of the second division UBC Güssing. From 2010 to 2015 he was first assistant and then head coach of the women's Bundesliga team of BC Vienna 87. In 2013, the Viennese became Austrian runners-up under his leadership, his three daughters were also part of the squad, his wife was his assistant coach. In the summer of 2011, he was also the national coach of Austria's female U20 team at the European B Championship. In 2015, in addition to his activities in the youth field, Zderadicka was also co-trainer of the Traiskirchen men's team.

In the summer of 2015, Zderadicka began a second term as head coach of Arkadia Traiskirchen, and from November 2015 he had to take a break due to hip and back pain. After the end of the 2015/16 season, his contract was not extended.

For the 2017/18 season, Zderadicka took over the post of head coach at the second division club Basket Flames , after having worked in the club's youth department the previous year.
