Franziska Maria Henriette von Hohenzollern-Hechingen (* 1642 ; † October 17, 1698 in Bergen op Zoom ) was a princess of Hohenzollern-Hechingen and in her own right Margravine von Bergen op Zoom .

Life

Franziska was the only surviving child of Prince Eitel Friedrich II of Hohenzollern-Hechingen (1601–1661) from his marriage to Maria Elisabeth (1613–1671), daughter of Count Heinrich van Berg's-Heerenberg and heiress of Bergen op Zoom.

With her mother's significant inheritance, the princess was considered a sought-after party. In 1661, Duke Christian Ludwig I of Mecklenburg-Schwerin appeared as one of their recruits , but the Protestant duke's marriage project with the Catholic Franziska met with strong rejection in the Mecklenburg ducal family. Franziska's mother insisted that a brother of the duke acted as a courtier, but since Christian Ludwig had fallen out with his brothers, he withdrew the application.

In May 1662 Franziska married in Bergen op Zoom Frédéric Maurice de La Tour d'Auvergne (1642–1707), Comte d'Auvergne et d'Oliergues, a son of the Duke of Bouillon . After the death of her mother in 1672, Franziska was enfeoffed with Bergen op Zoom, but was not inaugurated until 1681 .
