Franciscan Library (Brandenburg an der Havel)

The Franciscan Library in Brandenburg an der Havel is a collection of books that was created for edification and instruction within the Franciscan Monastery of St. Johannis in Brandenburg an der Havel .

After the Reformation, the collection was kept in the St. Gotthard Church and loaned to the Prussian State Library in 1923 . During the years of the Second World War, the 300 early publications, which were compiled in 190 volumes, were relocated to Fürstenstein Castle , later to the Grüssau Abbey in Silesia and were confiscated by the Polish authorities in the Jagiellonian Library in Krakow .
