Philip Yordan

Philip Yordan (born April 1, 1914 in Chicago , Illinois , USA ; † March 24, 2003 in La Jolla , California , USA) was an American screenwriter and film producer .

Short biography

The son of Polish immigrants studied at the University of Illinois and graduated from Kent College of Law in Chicago with a law degree .

During the McCarthy era , Yordan lived in Paris and not only wrote his own scripts , but also made his name available as a statement of responsibility for scripts by other authors whose names were on the " blacklist ".

Philip Yordan was nominated three times for an Oscar and finally won it at the Academy Awards in 1955 for his work on the film The Broken Lance .

He died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 88 .
