Hostility to Blood (in the original House of Strangers ) is a film drama directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz from 1949. The script is based on the novel I'll Never Go There Any More by Jerome Weidman. The premiere in Germany took place on December 5, 1950.

Gino Monetti, an American of Italian descent, is an unscrupulous criminal banker. His family suffers from his terror and ruthlessness. He goes to jail for his machinations. Three of his four sons, Joe, Pietro and Tony, who hate their father, refuse to get him out of custody. Instead, you take over his bank and business. In contrast, the fourth son, Max, who is a lawyer by profession, tries to help his father.

This in turn turns his three brothers against him. They achieve that Max is also behind bars. Nevertheless, Max continues to try to help his father. He bribes a jury, but this does not remain hidden. Max has to stay in prison for another seven years. Meanwhile, Gino, weakened by the feud against him, dies. Max vows to take revenge on his brothers as soon as he's released. However, Max soon realizes that his father Gino is responsible for the complications and tensions in the family, and makes peace with his brothers.

The film was set by Oscar-winning art director Lyle R. Wheeler , who formed a team with George W. Davis, who later became an Oscar-winner.
