Jean Peters
Elizabeth Jean Peters (born October 15, 1926 in Canton , Ohio , † October 13, 2000 in Carlsbad , California ) was an American actress .
life and career
Jean Peters won a trip to Hollywood in a beauty pageant in 1946 . She used this trip to gain a foothold in the film world. In 1947 she made her screen debut alongside Tyrone Power . In the early 1950s she starred in several films directed by well-known directors. After a brief marriage to a Texas oil entrepreneur , she married legendary billionaire Howard Hughes in 1957 . Then she retired from the film business. It was only after her divorce from Hughes in 1971 that she appeared again in television films. In all her life, despite some lucrative inquiries, she has never disclosed details of her marriage to Hughes. Jean Peters died of leukemia in 2000 and was buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City .
